How to choose a builder...

Choosing a builder or contractor is an important step when undertaking a home projects or new build development. When choosing a building firm, remember these key points:

• DO check they are they recommended by someone you know

• DO check and even visit a previous project to see quality of work

• DO check they have up to date insurance

• DO they have their own team or use trusted subcontrators?

• DO find out what other projects will they be running at the same time as yours

• DO make sure all agreements are in writing and have a contract in place

• DO ensure they will provide necessary certificates when work is complete

• DO book them in early as good builders will often have projects booked in months in advance

• DO get 3 or 4 quotes but don't necesarily go for the cheapest!

• DO agree deadlines for work to be completed

• DO provide your builder with spec level of internal finishes
